[04:38:58] nope [04:41:26] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o APlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [05:03:57] https://twitter.com/VayroGryphon/status/1048327476626292736?s=19 [05:03:57] Free Epson Printer Î Needs tuning https://t.co/eQa0J6PZIT [05:38:26] I'm trying to get to Eve and the Delta-V map says intercept to capture should only take 80 but at 100km periapsis my Delta-V to capture is over 1k, what's with the discrepancy? [05:39:26] probably starting inclination [05:40:44] because of the large inclination difference between kerbin and eve, when you look at the http://alexmoon.github.io/ksp/ there will be some angles for injection burn [05:40:55] now those angles make a huge difference [05:41:36] one is inclination the other is ejection angle [05:41:57] you dont just fly at kerbin retrograde to get to eve [05:42:30] so I left at a bad time and even tho I got to eve I'm flying by so fast that it takes extra delta-v over what the optimal would have been? [05:42:33] in general, you never launch retrograde [05:43:30] (the exception is when you /need/ to be in a retrograde orbit around kerbin. usually for an oddball rescue or satellite contract) [05:43:46] because it is an optimum of several factors, you have to vary your travel time, so that you arrive to eve when it is close to the ascending/descending node, and one way to do it is to change the ejection angle. [05:44:19] taniwha: i meant retrograde compared to the orbital motion of kerbin [05:44:36] unrelated to your orbit around kerbin [05:45:47] I thought you were saying that launching retrograde around Kerbin wouldn't help, so I thought I was backing you up [05:46:12] that is also true but i was not talking about that [05:46:53] here in this example, the recommended start time is year 2 day 160, and even there ejection angle is 153 degrees and there is 3.62 degrees inclination too [05:47:10] so it is not 180 degrees what would seem obvious at first glance [05:48:22] hmm that all seems like it would affect the efficiency of leaving kerbin to get to eve, why is the capture burn affected so much? [05:49:28] because the closer your velocity vector is eve's the less you need to change. there are travel orbits that intersect eve at the correct point, where eve is, but they are far away in velocity [05:50:08] ah that makes more sense [05:50:14] so if you think of a hohmann transfer, it is a tangent to the target orbit [05:50:51] whch such wildly different orbits it is hard to get a hohmann transfer. and those are not tangent but intersecting orbits, which need more change at the arrival [05:51:09] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqhI4MeCn1c [05:51:10] YouTube - DRACO - The Most Badass Monster Bush Plane EVER! I'd want to check settings.cfg [18:20:11] https://preview.redd.it/unlkqlzx9no11.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&s=e29ff75fca6c4d77aefccad8c09a1fb9850a07f5 [18:21:05] hmmi did not see that file. I will look again [19:23:24] . [19:24:01] I found this in a read me file [19:24:02] * Support Rigid Attachment (non-bendy) option for part joints in cfg and in the PAW. [19:24:43] but I could not find a pace to change rigid attachment to on as default in any of the setting files or cfg [19:25:11] and I could not find a PAW [20:21:18] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o Deddly' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [20:38:35] Fluburtur: interestingly, there are about 2 "countries" that "don't exist" for every country that exists [20:39:08] like half of the regions in france? [20:39:55] depends how far you're going with the definition of "active separatist movement" [20:40:38] if it just random farmers going "is our country" then at least 2 or 3 that I know of [20:41:05] i wasn't really counting those [20:41:57] i was thinking of things like "Transnistria" or "Catalonia" [20:43:00] also your map is outdated, for example "south sudan" is a country that now exists [20:44:26] my friend sent me that from reddit so it could be [20:44:50] it's been what? 2 years? [20:45:32] no, 7 years, according to skimming wikipedia [20:47:42] does abkhazia exist? [20:48:18] i'd put that in the same category as the other two i mentioned [20:53:53] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAFuawsN-1I [20:53:53] YouTube - The $69 Gaming PC RETURNS [20:59:05] I saw that in my recommended videos and thought "nah" [23:21:41] I WILL buy an old laptop if the price is low enough at a thrift store...LGR finds old CRT TVs for like a dollar so *shrug* [23:26:09] wtf would anyone want a CRT for? [23:26:31] life got so much easier with LCD screens [23:27:59] Really good CRTs are still pretty damn good (until you need to move them) [23:28:28] Oh, skimmed over the 'TVs' [23:28:42] Nah, never worth it [23:28:49] maybe some rare computer screens, but TVs? [23:29:10] Presumably for old consoles? [23:29:16] Not even very rare ones [23:30:02] i've had a giant 21" CRT monitor once [23:30:07] Even 'normal' good CRT monitors had much better colour fidelity and viewing angle than nearly any LCD until recently [23:30:23] it had a colour problem in a corner [23:31:09] (now you can get IPS or OLED flat-panels, but they're still rather more expensive) [23:32:01] And yes, for the very specific niche of retro console gaming there's nothing like a CRT [23:32:30] i did notice some less optimal colour stuff (like yellow-white-distinction) with my first LCD screen [23:32:35] but i would not go back [23:32:39] Maybe fake CRT blur looks good on 4k displays? Certainly at FHD it just doesn't work [23:33:31] Depends ow much spare desk space you have ;-) [23:34:09] But no, I did give up on my CRT when moving house a couple of years ago [23:34:10] imagine running dual-monitor with CRT :p [23:34:42] I don't have to, I had them once :D [23:34:49] Action: OctoRaptor used to do that [23:35:36] we grew up with CRT monitors...Looking back those things were SOOOOOOOO hard to move around I wouldn't go back if you paid me lol [23:36:33] and CRT TVs used to be sooooo expensive [23:38:01] i'm sure if you calculated the cost when we got our first colour TV in the 80s to todays money, that would be more than a big LCD TV costs now
