[00:08:22] Eddi|zuHause ugh... I saved an image file from the net earlier... went looking for it. Images sorted by date they were saved. Turns out Adobe had a meta tag that sorta forces its own idea of 'dates'. [00:09:05] thankfully I could 'edit' the date in windows... sat there wondering wonder how to fix a file on a date that was set a month previous.. [00:10:28] dunno how you do that on windows, but usually there is a program called "touch" which can set the date to anything you want [00:21:20] I found a program.. changing the creation date on the file didn't do anything. some reason a meta bit on the file from adobe over rode it. [00:22:17] turns out... I was able to get into the 'details' part of the file properties in the file explorer and just click on it directly... comes up with a calendar sorta setting thing. [00:31:12] Ever check out Adobe's support for networked drives and their software? [00:36:45] ... can't say I have.. [00:36:57] the file itself came from someone else. [10:26:49] watch'n yer twitch.. no account myself [10:27:11] i thought you didnt need an account to watch [10:27:20] in fact i am not logged in either [10:27:30] hes is playing career [10:27:40] says it wants login and password before I can say anything [10:27:49] that is true [10:27:57] probably not watching irc rioght now [10:28:40] its always required login for chat far as I remember [10:30:51] and this is the reason i dont take these atmospheric measurement missions most of the time. they take too much time [10:30:57] from my time, not game time [10:31:53] why am i getting hungry [10:32:14] ok so high alt mission.. joy [10:32:23] Althego: Because you burned your fuel. [10:32:24] yese those are the worst of all [10:32:33] lot of fat left [10:32:43] if its near the center.. I just rocket engine it up... [10:32:51] I sorta hate the ones further out.. [10:33:06] yes, but when it is far away, it is really impractical [10:33:17] unless a parabolic flight [10:33:31] anf even then you need to do multiple to get all points [10:33:54] Parabolic flight is for flat Earthers. Round Earthers go elliptic. [10:34:27] cant really do that inside the atmosphere [10:34:39] once I deal with my station contract.. and maybe the mun landing thing. Going to see about a polar surface station. I was debating if I should do tier one attempt and record it or.. [10:35:01] Can't fly a complete parabola within the atmosphere, either. [10:35:28] it becomes a drag distorted parabola [10:36:08] now if i remembered my twitch password [10:37:01] I said complete, not exact. [10:37:31] ah in the sense it is not infinite [10:37:37] mhm [10:38:20] Free fall in the atmosphere is a distorted ellipse, just like an orbit. [10:39:02] distorted conic section :) [10:40:11] Yeah, you could skim the atmosphere during a flyby. [10:41:36] but normally i would think of it as parabola, because of the basic projectile motion. of course if it is big enough for the curvature to be noticable, then it is closer to an ellipse [10:55:54] 16 hours until it's business time [10:56:02] let's hope they can launch it now [10:57:54] ah.. electron.. 3rd. cool [10:58:54] that date moved a lot during this year [11:01:53] saw it was scrubbed/delayed, but didn't catch reason behind [11:16:38] Action: darsie builds a sample return mission for Moho. [11:17:08] too bad there is no sample taking with stock probes [11:17:14] i really want a sampling arm [11:17:18] similar to a drill [11:17:42] because then you wouldnt need tto take the kerbals there just for a sample [11:25:25] this test run was not very successful. lots of cores. luckily seem to be the same one [11:36:26] lol... sample probes? I seem to recall people dropping whole asteroids onto kerbin [12:29:43] I thougt of doing a rescue mission with capsule on Valentina's fly by back at Kerbin. [12:29:53] But meh. [13:39:30] is there any rocket that from the launch pad is pitched at some angle from vertical? [13:40:07] in real life? [13:40:21] yeah [13:40:31] that tiny japanese rocket looked like that [13:40:43] asking because I just had a rocket picth in the direction I wanted due to a physics bug [13:40:43] that launches from a truck [13:41:23] the one behind the museum in ueno [13:41:24] ? [13:41:47] https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/3/16968756/japan-space-agency-jaxa-ss-520-teeny-tiny-rocket [13:43:00] I think that is the same as in ueno [14:21:47] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o APlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [14:42:46] Last message repeated 1 time(s). [14:42:46] MUSEUM [14:43:13] gcc [14:43:19] and it took you 1 hour to respond to a highlight? [14:43:26] lol [14:44:30] the imgur video to gif thing is broken for the only video I want to make to a gif [14:44:39] hehe [14:45:11] i've never understood the craze to turn videos into gifs [14:45:19] for this exact moment https://youtu.be/zzkDWOSBbm0?t=707 [14:46:37] "let's take a regular video, remove the possibility of having audio, replace it with crappy limited colour space, inability to pause, and constantly looping without any benefit" [14:47:12] but it works without any magical codecs [14:47:29] if anything, that codec is even more magical :p [14:47:39] it's just builtin in browsers [15:26:48] GlassYuri: IIRC a bunch of the smaller Japanese rockets launch(edge) at an angle. Also sounding rockets and their derivatives (Black Brant, Super Strypi, etc) [15:37:24] Valentina landed at Moho: http://bksys.at/bernhard/temp/screenshot44.png [15:38:31] Will need some jetpacking to get back up. [15:47:29] lol, I launched the counterorbit to my home ship. [15:48:49] i hate when that happens [15:49:44] i once did that for a beyond-mun-rescue mission, where i didn't realize the orbit was retrograde [15:54:33] should have landed the other way. Hmm, but I chose the sunny side for the orbit insertion burn. [15:55:06] Or does Moho by any chance rotate retrograde? [16:11:38] Looks like Moho is something like tidally locked to the Sun, so doesn't rotate much. Orbital direction doesn't matter. [20:03:44] nice [20:03:55] really fast execution of a hard mission [20:10:54] Fast? I cooked and ate pancakes inbetween. [20:13:26] The Ant was a bit low thrust and had significant gravity losses when landing on Moho, but with the jetpack it worked out. [20:13:58] full flaps https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/186186471202357249/510909955034054656/DSC_0212.JPG [20:14:26] Fluburtur: air brakes [20:14:35] pretty much [20:15:08] Hmm, do air brakes go up? [20:15:10] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o raptop' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [20:15:22] when flaps go up it is called reflex [20:15:33] gliders use that to reduce lift and drag to go faster [20:16:05] how does that reduce drag? [20:16:09] because it reduces lift? [20:16:15] yeah [20:16:20] they don't go up by much [20:16:28] Why not pitch down instead? [20:16:45] they don't want to go down [20:17:06] Hmm, keep going up/straight, but faster? [20:17:11] yeah [20:25:45] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+v erio' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [21:58:39] i just spent 5 hours driving over the surface of duna to get a surface sample from outside the northeast basin -_- [21:58:51] Uh [21:59:13] Hopefully(?) in 4x warp? [21:59:54] the main problem i have with that kind of stuff is you cannot quicksave while the rover moves [22:00:02] i varied the warp cause 4x starts getting slidy, most of it in 2 [22:00:17] so any wrong button press might result in you having to do it all over again, or you need to stop every few minutes [22:00:25] but it still took me 5 hours cause ^ [22:07:08] falalilal: Land near a 2/3 biome border. [22:07:30] i landed near the pregnant lady [22:07:54] i just decided to find some more surface samples on a whim [22:08:22] took longer than expected... but i was like "I can't stop now!" -> hours passed [22:08:55] that's what happened to me trying to relocate my minimus base a few km uphill [22:09:09] a few hours later, no significant progress [22:09:30] just an endless descent into glitching through the terrain [22:09:33] Use AI. [22:09:46] No. [22:10:18] darsie: you mean a "have the game play itself for me" button? [22:10:32] yeah :) [22:11:07] fast forward a Scott Manley video ;). [22:11:08] not sure what problem that is exactly meant to solve here :p [22:13:19] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o BPlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [22:38:03] falalilal i do not envy you. tbh i never drive rovers over long distances by hand, just isn't fun for me [22:45:54] i once tried to drive to an anomaly on kerbin by car [22:46:21] that was pre-wheel-rework (1.1-ish) [22:47:26] and then there is me who drives submarines [23:09:39] at least submarines go in straight lines [23:19:54] exept when you make a route to follow [23:20:05] but I still went in a straight line most of the time [23:21:52] I made a carplane. used fly only when land got rough [23:21:57] very long fuel life [23:22:30] I guess subplane is possible also, to cross land thats on way for shorter path [23:23:14] i've had a really hard time "landing" on water with a plane without disintegrating [23:35:06] there was a heli with a fantar that flew over earlier [23:35:34] at first it sounded like a normal heli but louder but then it made a very characteristic jet engine screech [23:36:42] it's been surprisingly easy for me to land on water with planes [23:36:56] some planes like water more than other [23:38:36] huh, this is wonky - i've got an orbital station with several asteroids attached to it, but when i start mining with the drill stuck in the biggest one, ore is extracted from roid attached most recently [23:39:12] maybe it counts the asteroids as one body
