[00:03:21] Hi, I just got back into playing KSP after most of a year away, and started a new career. I got to orbit, but I'm not really sure what to do next. https://imgur.com/a/yrrfCZP [00:06:32] pakaran: go explore the Mun [00:06:57] build a rocket with science equipment, maybe a small rover and go biome hopping [00:06:58] it's the same as going to orbit, just a bit higher [00:08:00] hmm. [00:08:50] you could try one of the challenges where you make it to orbit but with some sort of handicap [00:09:15] like a budget restriction, weight restriction, part count, amount of fuel etc [00:11:05] hmm. right now I'm doing a part test contract... just have to have the standard decoupler I'm using now in orbit. [00:30:56] actually had enough spare delta-v with the test craft that I could have orbited the Mun, if I hadn't had slightly too little money to upgrade the tracking station. That'll be the next major project. [00:53:00] Should have gone with a much lower reentry perikerb on the test craft; it's going to take a few more passes, but I wanted to make sure the science gear had a fair chance to not burn up. [00:53:01] https://imgur.com/a/XFfnDBe [01:14:30] i usually aim for 30-40km [01:21:50] thanks [01:22:41] https://imgur.com/NIB9LVw turned out X-29s make for good SSTOs [01:22:41] https://i.imgur.com/NIB9LVw.png [01:24:33] you use a fairing as nose? [01:24:46] Eddi|zuHause yeah, looked cool [01:25:47] also it's a convenient place to store batteries, rtg and a spare reaction wheel [01:56:20] Eddi|zuHause is the fairing nose a problem? :/ [01:57:31] only if it's the root part [03:40:00] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o purpletarget|ktns' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [04:55:31] So, I'm using BARIS, and I had a chute failure in orbit, so I sent up Bill to go fix it. Disabled the requirements for parts or skill. Nothing happens when trying to repair it, except that it stopped being red. And it didn't open and I had to bail out. [04:55:43] I do love that Kerbals can bail and use their chutes, though. [05:20:59] Action: Raptop thought BARIS was a DOS game? [10:09:05] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QvVCV1Ve5U [10:09:05] YouTube - Watch Live: Launch of Chandrayaan 2 by GSLV MkIII-M1 Vehicle [10:09:30] hehe aspect ratio mismatch again [12:02:39] Eddi|zuHause is the fairing nose a problem? :/ <-- no, i was just noticing [13:26:50] it's uh.. Thunderbird 2 https://i.imgur.com/ulll0ml.png [13:27:29] Eddi|zuHause: aye, i do it quite often. it's a little bit draggier than the pointy intake unless it's directly in line with airflow, in which case it's less draggy [13:40:04] My mild obsessive compulsiveness to detail sadly makes me unable to create things like that [13:45:30] yeah, I would have gone with a white fairing ;) [13:48:19] that's a chubby plane... [13:50:37] what annoys me about fairings is that bulky plate with the diagonal stripe pattern [13:51:14] it's way bigger than it needs to be (say, compared to the new separators) [13:52:56] on a separate issue, i often have trouble closing a fairing at the end [13:54:04] and i'm missing a fairing that opens and closes like a service bay [13:55:17] but that wouldn't be a fairing then? [13:56:17] ..semantics [14:58:38] By the power of MechJeb, I command you! [15:04:01] Action: packbart tries "@DEPLOYEDSCIENCE { @ScienceTimeDelay = 10800 }" - maybe that will calm the deployed science down a bit [15:04:03] nate: I was just testing out with the general shape, i wanted to know how plausible it would be to fly one. turns out flying it is very plausible. going to space? no. 200m/s short and I can't squeeze it out from anywhere [15:04:30] Eddi|zuHause: have you not watched Thunderbirds? :o [15:07:52] only ThunderCats [15:23:57] Black_Eagle: i have occasionally heard about it, but never came across it in a time where i would have been interested in watching it [17:48:09] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o Deddly' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [20:05:25] finally scott [20:09:20] i actually pushed the daily meeting a few minutes sooner so i could watch the chandrayaan-2 launch [22:07:33] interesting amphibious design: https://i.imgur.com/9qoD1iX.png (via https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/186533-how-to-build-a-high-speed-rover/ ) [23:01:47] Raptop, BARIS is also a part failure mod - one of the more featureful ones. [23:04:18] aaaaaaaaa [23:13:12] RIP Chris Kraft [23:18:35] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o UmbralRaptor' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [23:18:42] who?
