[01:37:57] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o APlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [10:58:33] Last message repeated 5 time(s). [10:58:33] is there no preview of stranded crew orbits before you accept the contract? [11:07:09] i dont think so, just whether its 'high above' or 'just over' [11:35:57] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+v eriophora' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [11:37:58] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o APlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [13:20:15] Feature request: list the kerbin-centric keplerian elements of the stranded kerbals in the contract. [13:20:39] At least a, e, and i. [13:30:32] congratulations, you sent this to /dev/null [13:33:14] Meh, this way I get to voice it without the disappointment of filing bug reports that were ignored for several years. [13:33:16] also stranded kerbals an be anywhere, not only around kerbin [13:33:43] so you want to see these in the contract text? [13:34:04] that could be useful, because i had to switch to tracking station and check these if they are viable [13:34:33] there is not even a linking, meaning i click a button and it shows me in tracking with the orbit highlighhtes [13:34:36] d [13:34:46] cause dres doesnt exist [13:34:54] it doesnt [13:35:01] Yeah. [13:35:15] that is a general problem for all contracts [13:35:25] for example the measure something somewhere [13:35:30] there are like 5 [13:35:39] cant see easily which one is which [13:38:03] (to both) [14:22:38] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o UmbralRaptop' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [14:39:55] "Rescue Army from orbit of Kerbin" sure, let me just grab my space C-17 [15:29:34] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o BPlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [15:54:14] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o APlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [17:08:03] "One of the reasons I feel so comfortable using Tumblr over other social media is because this site is clearly too incompetent to be evil." [17:24:25] I need to put order in my room, I already broke my left knee twice in the last one hour [17:25:38] Did you enable part symmetry, though? Else you need to break your right knee twice too, separately [17:25:48] no [17:32:20] https://66.media.tumblr.com/ffc671f328fb2e7cbbb15ccf3a23478f/tumblr_pe1z53OJIo1uk3tkw_540.jpg [17:59:45] Fluburtur: order is for the weak! [18:01:07] https://youtu.be/T6FHJmBa_jQ [18:01:07] YouTube - Swiss Tankbuchse 41 Semiauto Antitank Rifle [18:01:10] this is a rifle [18:15:20] how about some wheels for your rifle? https://i1.wp.com/www.forgottenweapons.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Screen-Shot-2018-10-01-at-2.15.57-PM.png?fit=743%2C528&ssl=1 [19:01:56] #KSPOfficial: mode change '+o APlayer' by ChanServ!ChanServ@services.esper.net [19:36:11] wat https://youtu.be/G2g2TZBoo0U?t=32 [19:36:11] This stack separator (or also a decoupler) causes undue drag: http://bksys.at/bernhard/temp/screenshot14.png [19:39:05] K? [19:39:34] K? [19:40:16] as compared to what? [19:40:20] Without it. [19:40:37] just see pic with it... 25km DV..? [19:41:32] Top speed is about 330 m/s. Without it's about double that. [19:42:18] Hmm, I could make pics when it reaches speed of sound and the dip in acceleration. [19:44:07] try a bigger stack sep on it.. [19:44:25] according to wiki... they should just have 0.3-0.2 drag [19:44:42] Like, a 1.25 m sep on a 0.6 m rocket? [19:44:46] maybe someone fat fingered the drag entry by accident [19:45:21] docking port jr is 0.25 drag [19:46:40] idk what these numbers are, but 10 kg making the rocket 10 cm longer should only cause minimal drag. [19:47:12] you could also be shifting the weight further back just a bit [19:47:47] Maybe. But the drag is unreasonable. [19:48:12] you using FAR? [19:48:15] no [19:48:44] Something like this also happens when a fairing is the root part. [19:49:15] probably because game isn't sure what to do when a part not typically a root is made into one [19:49:37] you should see some of the funky stuff that can happen, like back when people make rovers out of weightless parts [19:50:12] when you using a seperator on the jet engine anyways? [19:50:13] there were some weightless engines and someone went FTL. [19:50:43] Scott bounced a rocket off Jool really hard. result was a craft doing 5x speed of light across kerbol system [19:51:25] or the planet buster someone else did... craft so large. would glitch the graphics out, planets disappeared [19:52:04] beyond that, I don't know. Sorry. I was suppose to have gone off line an hour ago to meet with a friend. [19:52:28] thx [19:55:23] no worries... lates [19:57:45] Fairing bug still there: http://bksys.at/bernhard/temp/screenshot18.png [19:58:11] Reaches 77 km. With fairing as root it turns over during flight due to fairing drag. [20:20:07] http://bksys.at/bernhard/temp/screenshot21.png reaches 619 m/s top speed. [20:20:28] http://bksys.at/bernhard/temp/screenshot22.png reaches 410 m/s top speed. [20:20:41] 22 has a 10 kg decoupler instead of a 10 kg battery. [20:22:42] Clamp is released when the turbine reaches 10 kN. [20:28:58] What's that for? [20:31:01] Trying to use a Juno as first stage. [20:32:57] So that's a rocket for suborbital flight? [20:33:04] No, I want orbit. [20:33:18] Need more than a Juno for that, though [20:33:26] I deleted the second stage to find the drag issue. [20:33:33] Ah, got it [20:33:59] Might want to have a look at FAR [20:34:12] ok [20:34:17] It is not for everyone, but it certainly solves small parts related aero issues [20:34:49] Ah, so it's not I install it and it fixes the drag of the decoupler. [20:36:07] It is an aerodynamics rework. Uses part collision boxes, IIRC, to calculate realistic aerodynamic effects. Is significantly different from stock KSP aero and definitely harder to work with, but it also solves such bugs [20:37:17] Expect somewhat unintuitive effects (which occur in reality but not in KSP) such as extra drag around Mach 1 and stuff. It makes especially plane design harder, but OTOH it provides good tools to estimate flight performance [20:37:52] KSP does increas drag at mach 1. [20:40:14] But flying with a variant of that plane was nice. Made it 1/3 around Kerbin with just an Oscar B. [20:40:35] Flew by itself without SAS. [20:40:48] There was some increasing oscillation. Didn't find the time to play KSP since 1.3 :-( [22:52:12] I'm running out of motivation to play it. [22:52:29] i naively tried to run my savegame on 1.5 with all the old mods, but with FAR active, i got like 0.1FPS [22:52:39] ...while in space [22:52:42] https://66.media.tumblr.com/efa784489fa8dafcb921ea8738b4fd53/tumblr_p91zwqPyuE1qhwpg6o1_540.png [22:52:59] hey, i just tried playing that song [22:54:37] also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ydY8-Uzah8 [22:54:38] YouTube - Bohemian Rhapsody Performed in 42 Styles [22:54:52] it is super hard to play [22:55:16] note that i play the Tuba [22:55:32] lmao [22:55:44] I want a trumpet, do you know stuff about those? [22:55:59] "stuff"? [22:56:12] like what to get [22:56:14] i know which way the air goes in, if that helps :p [22:56:25] heh [22:56:49] I actually want to make a trumpet with 3d printed piston and garden hose tubing [22:56:50] there's two valve types, one for more orchestra-like play and one for jazz-like play [22:56:54] but a real one would be nice too [22:57:14] i've seen some people with plastic instruments [22:57:21] I want to play ska punk ideally so I guess you need the piston ones for that [22:57:32] i also tried a plastic tuba, but it was too bulky [22:58:46] ah yes https://www.amazon.fr/BONTEMPI-324231-Instrument-Musique-Trompette/dp/B01N6IGXZZ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1540853916&sr=8-4&keywords=trompette [22:59:10] uh is so late [23:00:29] that doesn't look right :p [23:00:50] I think my uncle might know someone that can tell me about trumpets [23:01:07] or the trumpets with only 3 pistons, cornets I think [23:01:22] k then https://youtu.be/rbE53XUtVw0 [23:01:23] YouTube - bear sits next to guy [23:01:35] they all usually come with 3 valves [23:01:45] trumpet and cornets alike [23:01:48] aren't trumpet 4 and cornets 3? [23:01:51] no [23:02:02] I have been lied to [23:02:14] you only need 4 valves if you play in the really low octaves [23:02:25] so only baritone and tuba usually have 4 valves [23:02:35] some tubas have 5 or even 6 in rare cases [23:02:41] also, how much can you tune them [23:02:51] seems like they all come in one pre defined tone [23:03:14] there's a thing you can pull out or push in to tune [23:03:23] yeah but is fine tune [23:04:08] they come as sib, ut and mib usually it seems [23:05:20] there's 3 parts for making a tone: 1) your mouth - defines which one of the "natural" tones you play (they are really far apart in the low octaves and get closer to each other in the higher octaves, in an 1/n progression) [23:05:40] 2) the valve modifies the length of the instrument to get down to halftone differences [23:06:03] 3) the tuning bend, which can fine tune to match other nearby instruments [23:07:22] i don't know what "sib, ut and mib" stands for [23:07:26] never heard that [23:07:31] the tones [23:07:43] anyways, I will try to find someone that plays trumpet so I can try [23:08:29] you could go to a real life instrument shop, they probably let you try out some [23:08:49] expect the useful ones to start at around 300¬ [23:08:59] (open end for highly professional ones) [23:09:01] nearest one is in paris [23:09:10] so not exactly cheap [23:09:16] i'd assume everything is in paris :p [23:09:33] there is one a bit closer but idk if they have trumpets [23:09:37] mostly strings [23:09:44] also I don't want to get a too expensive one [23:09:57] I want a cheap one that works, might be asking too much idk [23:10:06] you should also get a teacher [23:10:15] yeah [23:10:22] so it doesn't end up next to my violin [23:10:28] is a good decoration tho [23:10:50] or, do that first, he can probably explain to you what to look for when you get one. or even rent one [23:11:03] yeah [23:11:07] anyways I need to go to bed now
